X-ray
X-Ray: An X-ray image is produced when a small amount of radiation passes through a body part, with different internal structures absorbing varying amounts of radiation. This results in the white appearance of solid bone structures and the grey appearance of muscle areas. As the most common form of medical imaging, an X-ray is a quick and commonly used procedure to examine the human body. Depending on the examination, X-rays may be performed while standing or lying down. Although the X-ray itself is painless, some discomfort may occur due to the positioning required. To receive an X-ray, a referral from a medical practitioner is necessary. At Radiology Queensland Group, no appointment is needed—simply visit your local practice.
FAQs
X-rays are available on a walk-in basis, and no appointment is necessary for this examination. While our dedicated team strives to minimise waiting times, there may be periods of higher demand throughout the day.
No advanced preparation is necessary for an X-ray. You may be asked to wear an examination
gown if appropriate. Although not essential, it is helpful to wear loose-fitting clothing
without metal buckles, fasteners, or zippers.
